Lean Six Sigma


Lean Six Sigma is a quality improving methodology. It is a combination of Lean Flow and Six Sigma which are found to be wonderfully compatible. When Lean Flow takes care that the process is error-free, data driven and disciplined, Six Sigma takes care that the speed by which the process is completed and also the elimination of waste is done effectively. The non-value added steps are deleted so that the process is carried out smoothly. With the combination of these two methodologies, the quality of the process shoots up and can be used in any kind of business. Enterprise Resource Planning is another methodology sometimes used. There are also other methodologies used other than this in a combination so that the best output is got.

The strategies used by both are almost the same. Both come into terms about the importance of customer service. They work together to delete any unwanted step that will hinder the smooth flow of the production and other related processes. They also ensure that the members are trained really well so that the expertise when the customers consult them is not lost.

There are many advantages when you use Lean Sigma. It can effectively decrease the cost, the times of cycle and also have the capacity broadened. When all this is done, there is an obvious increase in the productivity. Stream mapping is the technique they use to identify opportunities quickly. But, Six Sigma goes to the root to identify opportunities and hence it can eliminate the defects caused in this process.

Lean Six Sigma values customer satisfaction to the core. It works so that the customer feels that it has something in it to be paid for. It maintains the customer’s trust and loyalty through each of its step. It can help in increasing the quality of your future through their work. The way they work is totally different. It enables each employee to think in a new way which in turn helps in the improvement of the organization as well.

Lean Six Sigma can solve problems in any range. Sometimes it can also solve something that has not yet occurred, but there is a chance of occurring. This can improve the quality of the product and as even the probable mistakes will be pointed out before hand, the employees can work at it in a better way.

There are a number of types of waste that they are involved in eliminating. There is one type which is involved in the process of re-learning. Here the application of knowledge is rare and the value is sometimes lost. Another one is the one that is involved during over-analysis. Another major concern associated with this is the time wasted. The time that is spent waiting can affect a lot on the productivity. Everything requires time, from waiting for the resources to the data to the decision-making, there is a huge responsibility of doing everything on time and this is the first thing that needs to be monitored.
